In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Flushing; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The dumplings were big and it’s shareable. Tried both the boiled and pan fried ones. Would recommend the pan fried.

We have not been to Northern King Dumpling for a long time, so we came back today to buy their kimchi buns. They were still very good, just like we remembered, although the price feels a little higher now. The main reason we came was actually for their chive boxes, but when we got there, they were already sold out. I guess that shows how popular they are. We ended up placing an order ahead of time and came back the next day to pick them up. Finally got to eat them again, and they were still really tasty. The only thing is that the chive boxes could be a little less oily. We also tried their malatang for the first time. The flavor was actually pretty good, and we enjoyed it. But I am not sure if it was because of the soup base or because we ate it together with other food, but after eating, I felt very thirsty. So that’s the only thing I wasn’t too sure about. Overall, the food is still good and worth coming back for.

I have found my new favorite restaurant in Flushing. It checked many boxes for me. It's delicious, no tip, no tax, clean, priced just right. I'll be back to try more of its delicious food for sure.

Food was absolutely fantastic! We ordered the shrimp, egg, and chive dumplings—bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. The seafood tofu soup (soondubu) was another standout—rich, comforting, and seasoned to perfection. The tendon appetizer was flavorful but a bit on the tough and chewy side. Still enjoyable if you like a bit of texture. We also had the kimchi pork bun which was packed with flavor and definitely worth trying. Service was great—attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The atmosphere is a little dim, but in the best way—it gave off that classic “you know it’s gonna be good” vibe. Overall, a solid spot for anyone craving authentic dumplings and hearty comfort food.
